My "caffeinated scientist" adventures officially began in Germany but here are some more recent discoveries back home. I realised there is a another outlet of Alchemist Coffee, and decided to check it out. Unlike my previous encounter with this really nice coffee place in Tai Seng area, this outlet was located in a very different building with Batman vibes >< The coffee was equally good though, and now served in these fancy dark blue cups which I think look really good in a corporate setting! Would like to bring some colleagues there some day, even for an informal meeting or discussion :)
I also wanted to check out Hello Arigato and get a chance to ride the Thomson-East Coast line, but unfortunately they do not serve coffee in the evenings though their matcha cruffin which I tried was really good!!! As I was still in need of coffee, I went to Columbus Coffee nearby (Thomson is indeed not short of cafes/eateries), and managed to try their iced latte for the first time which was nice and well balanced.
For people who may not like coffee in the evenings, there are also many nice less/non-caffeine options around. I was introduced to 108 Matcha Saro by a colleague, and it's apparently a famous matcha pancake and drink store from Japan. They have pancake + drink sets, and the pancakes are warmed up which makes the matcha custard inside taste extra delicious. The drinks are also prepared upon order, and I tried the iced hojicha which was good.

Update: Nov 2022
Another coffee discovery was Coexist Coffee Co. which has a few outlets around Singapore. I visited the Hillview one, and got a takeaway white coffee. It's a little hidden amongst all the factory-like buildings, but since it's located on the 8th floor, the view is rather nice.
It seems hidden coffee places amongst factories or warehouses is the new trend, and so I also visited Suzuki coffee finally to find out what the hype was all about. It turned out to be a place I can see myself returning to cause it was so peaceful with a Japanese water fountain at the entrance, and there is a row of interestingly crafted chairs with rectangular backs + handles overlooking the roastery grounds. On days with good weather, the sunlight shining in is a beautiful feeling, and you do actually feel like you have been transported to a quiet cafe in Japan. I had the matcha latte when I was there, and it is one of the nicer matcha lattes I've tried in SG.
