Sourdough Donuts !🍩🍩🍩

Renu CS

Sourdough donuts has been one of the food trends of the past year or so, and it has been quite an adventure finally being able to try some :D it took me on a journey on the NEW Thomson-East Coast line (which is still relatively empty) and I also got to venture into the Dempsey 'enclave' (which was so peaceful and even had a beergarden).

Anyway, Kobashi is a home bakery and besides having unique flavours for their seasonal donuts, they also have really nice packaging which ensures your donuts last the journey home after pick-up. My favourite was the chrysanthemum and thyme one :) Though it was rather far from home for me, it was worth the journey cause my family enjoyed the donuts and it allowed me to explore the new Thomson MRT line which looks really spacious and bright. It reminds me of some of the larger train stations in Japan or Europe.

Another place with good donuts as well is Burnt Ends bakery, which I had once tried when they made a milo special for the 2020 Food Festival, and you could order for takeaway from their main restaurant. They now have a bakery/cafe style outlet in Dempsey and it's really nice to be surrounded by greenery away from the bustling city centre (Orchard Road) just near by and enjoy these bakes with a cup of coffee. Also, that gold and black door is quite cool.

Since town was in the area, my sister and I also took the opportunity to visit the Barbie exhibition at Ion that weekend. It reminded us of all the fun times we played with these dolls when we were younger. There were so many collectibles and interesting stories behind them at the exhibition! We were also lucky that it was the 150th anniversary of Clipper Tea and we managed to try their lychee and berry cold brews at a special price :) There were so many little things we discovered just by walking around and we felt like a tourist in our own homes for that weekend >< which was nice! and we can only hope that life may slowly return to what it was pre-COVID even if not completely.

Update Nov 2022:

Another new sourdough donut place I recently discovered is Sin & Savage. I personally really like their charcoal dalgona donut. It is the "sinful" sweet treat you need sometimes ><
