Recently, Breadtalk launched a new pumpkin bun inspired by Yayoi Kusama's art. Food preparation allows us to be creative in terms of flavours, presentation etc and so it is difficult to detach it from the concept of art, as it is a form of expression of the chef on the plate :)


I also really love latte art, and even when I get takeaway coffee I have a habit of opening up the cover to admire the art before drinking it :P


On that same train of thought I recently discovered Singapore's 1st robotic barista. While I don't think Ella can prepare beautiful latte art like some of my favourite baristas yet, I guess its part of the movement towards embracing robotics in various industries. I got to watch someone coding Ella the other day and it really made me reflect on how everything is evolving and how science affects food, from "freeze-dried" and "nitro-brews" and now we get to apply our datascience/AI skills as well?!

I came across this really interesting BBC interview with Heston Blumenthal who also embraces science in cooking and I found some of his experiments really fascinating! Please do have a watch:
