Frühlingsfest is the Spring Festival held in Munich, that is somewhat a mini version of Oktoberfest. I've never had a chance to attend, and in fact all events last year got cancelled (except maybe Tollwood in summer?) including the Christmas markets so this was something rather exciting to look forward to! There were so many fun rides, game booths, food booths....it was like the carnivals I used to attend when I was actually a kid :P So it felt nice to feel like one again and yet not feel out of place cause even adults were having a go at the games like shooting the pineapples/tins etc. In the end I won this tiny shoe! hehe
I also finally got to try the famous lebkuchen/Wiesn hearts! They are so colourful and there are so many patterns;- I learnt that these were specially designed with icing instead of the chocolate gingerbreads so that these patterns will stay with time (and transportation). It was also so nice to have that familiar taste of roasted nuts from Christmas :P but this time there was a Frühlingsfest mix so there were more types other than almonds which was actually really yummy.
And then of course the rides! The giant wheel is something visible from a distance and quite impressive to know that it is one of the largest in Europe. You get to go a few rounds and can see quite a bit of the city when you are on the top. It's really nice and comfortable even for kids : )
But then the more exciting ride (for me) was the skater. You can actually find videos of it on youtube, and it's quite funny how there is a man who gives a running commentary as the ride flings you about in the air. When it ends, the challenge is to try walking straight >< and this is also how I lost my hairhand cause it kind of got flung off somewhere along the ride >< ....but no regrets!!!
