As the seasons change, you realise how time passes and how Munich becomes more of a 2nd home, even though I'm still learning new things or stumbling upon hidden gems every now and then :) It's now the 2nd summer in Munich! :D Although I like walking/hiking and swimming more (my usual forms of exercise), this summer I decided to give cycling a go. I can't say that it is my new favourite activity ><, BUT it is really convenient that you can easily rent a bicycle at train stations and cycle when you feel in the mood for it. All you need is the MVGO app and you can scan the QR code to unlock the bicycle from the bay and then return it at various locations which you can search for in the app as well! It was abit chilly on the 1st morning that I tried cycling, but it was nice quiet morning and the bus wasn't running on my usual route so it was quite fun to cycle to where I had to go (ignore my sigh >< ), and there was a nice long clear path to cycle on : )

I have also learnt about Caro which has been a great saviour lately, so I have something tasting like coffee to drink at night but still being able to sleep :P and was also nice to learn about ice hotels! (in Sweden). It's such an interesting concept that these hotels are built yearly, and they melt away as the seasons pass. I can only imagine such a concept coming from an environment without 4 seasons, but it seems very much like sandcastles in the sea :) At the mensa, we also have more and more varieties of dishes, so I've also learnt the difference between damfnudeln and germknödel, and realised why they look so similar but taste different;- one is steamed and one is boiled and the germmknödel tends to have a filling.

I've additionally FINALLY visited the so called famous DNA/never ending staircase in Munich (at the KPMG building) by a Danish architect. You can't climb it, but it's quite fascinating to see in person. I also discovered a really nice cafe at Rotkreuzplatz called Suuapinga. They have really really yummy cinnamon buns too >< ESPECIALLY when they are freshly baked and warm! And you can enjoy them admist this minimalistic setting with white furniture and the la marzocco coffee machines away from the bustling city nearby.

Last year I also discovered the summer markets at Herrsching which I came to love. These were in addition to the weekly farmers markets, and at this special summer market, they sold handicrafts and had some food carts. It's where I got a really nice hand sewn floral bag from a lovely old lady which I now use for groceries :) Anyway lately, the night markets in Munich itself are back;- "Midnightbazar" is a flea market with some food carts as well. Most of the stores were clothes stores, but I did find a few which were more to my interest, like a man selling old camera+film/gadgets and a lady selling character earrings/rings etc (which seemed to be very popular with the younger crowd :P) According to the website, there are sometimes stores selling momos (Nepalese dumplings) but sadly there weren't any this time :'( On this occasion they had sausages, pizza, a burger store and an "oriental store" which seemed to have Turkish food, including this really nice coconut butter cake which I did try.
