Herrsching <3

Herrsching is a small town about 1 hour away from Munich city. I have discovered a place that I want to keep returning to because the vibes of this little town are perfect :P It overlooks a lake and the water is a brilliant blue. My journey there wasn't smooth because for the some reason the S-bahn kept cutting short the trip and I had to get off and change to a different train >< But I'm so so glad I persisted.

On the weekend they have farmers markets and everyone is so friendly, wanting to tell you about their fresh fruit or jams etc. There was also a market overlooking the lake and some people were selling handicrafts, like this lady who makes jewelry and sews bags with really pretty floral prints.

I visited this cafe that roasts their own coffee on site! It's called Kaffeeroesterei am Ammersee and it's just a 2-3min walk from the S-bahn station. They use RECUP cups too! (if you takeaway coffee, which I would suggest because it's really lovely to enjoy that cup of coffee while overlooking the lake which is just a short walk away).

Bus 921 from the main station will also take you to Breitbrunn, Obstgarten, which is truly worth the busride because SchokoSphere is a must visit to try these housemade pralines. The owner will patiently (and passionately!) share what flavours he has on that day so you can choose what to get. "What would you recommend?" "Well, I will recommend ALL of my chocolates" haha...But in the end, he told me if I like coffee I should get the one with coffee liquor, amongst the ones that had alcohol.

Overall the bus/train rides are just very peaceful. You travel through forests, farms, and the view of the lake is just gorgeous with the summer sun sparkling in it.

Update:

I did return! And discovered another nice cafe : ) I took away a flatwhite and a slice of cheesecake (it was "happyhour" and so 50% off! hehe) from Konturwerk, and enjoyed it by the lake again : ) Someone was feeding the ducks so they came to us eagerly :P

Also discovered the full range of the artwork I came to love in the previous cafe! They were on display at the Institut fur Form und Farbe but sadly it was closed so I couldn't get a card. Next time :D

Update: It has been really lovely to revisit Herrsching during the different seasons and see it in Autumn and Winter as well :D There is one particular tree however that stays forever green despite the seasons :P
