♪ ♫Kinder der 90er- KUULT♪ ♫

It was nice to chat with my friend back home recently and talk about how we used to enjoy our time as kids...A time without whatsapp and social media and what "little joys" meant >< Perhaps, we haven't changed much :P it has been nice to make new friends who understand that too and this song reminds me of that!

In this wintery weather, the little joys include these mini baked cheese rounds I discovered at the supermarket. When heated, the cheese is oozy inside :D Sometimes it's also nice to have giotto chocolate on the side with a cup of coffee ;) (giotto has hazelnut ferrero chcolate in it and it reminds me of something really funny someone said earlier this year "not knowing van gogh is like...not knowing nutella!" >< # quoteoftheyear )

A friend also recently introduced me to this plant store with a cafe that now sells christmas themed plants! (Weihnachtsstern = "Christmas star") It was so so refreshing to walk around the beautiful store and also admire the christmas trees & decorations (with different coloured themes)! :D I also took away a slice of cake from the cafe though I have no idea what flavour it was :P >< It seemed to be a chocolate (or tiramisu?) sponge with very light cream. It was the last slice so I figured it must be good and I wasn't disappointed :)

In line with the winter/Christmas theme, DW news had a feature on the various christmas markets around Germany . I was REALLY looking forward to them but sadly, due to the rising COVID numbers (highest ever since the pandemic started :( ) there has been talks about avoiding them or cancelling them altogether for everyone's safety. Nevertheless, we can create our own little christmas cheer at home :D Here are some recipes to try! (Link: Make your own christmas market) I really had fun making my own Glühwein hehe...wonder if the neighbours were suspicious :P and I learnt that quark goes well with reibekuchen (potato pancakes) though it's usually served with apple sauce- famous find at christmas markets apparently . I've also discovered a brand of sauerkraut that I like >< and goes really well with curry knacker!

It has been a year that I started this "ramblings" section of this food blog...I honestly feel they are rambles but thank you for journeying with me through food >< (and if you did find some good recommendations/suggestions or fun facts then...GREAT!!! :P) Although things may seem bleak, the stars still shine brightly against the wintery night sky, and the truth is we know much more about this COVID situation than a year ago. All I wish is for everyone to stay safe/healthy, and to keep holding on to the things in life you love or make you happy....may 2022 bring us more promise! : )

Till then, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year~
