I've been seeing many of these seeds scattered around amongst the autumn foliage and was quite curious to find out what species of trees they were from;- apparently they are from sweet chestnut trees! (and are abundant near beergardens to historically keep the barrels of beer cool). Also, it is said that if you carry a few in your pocket it brings you happiness :P (i think so!)

It was really misty during one of the weekends, but it made the walk through the park and by the lake (Fasaneriesee) extra beautiful. Also discovered a new beergarden (with many of these chestnut trees) while at it!

It has also been extremely nice to make some new German friends who introduced me to more local things like vegetarian liverwurst, Haribo Süße Mäuse, or even Sturm which is a special wine only available for 2 weeks during the autumn season. Funnily, there are also schokoladen kuchenwürfel which are quite popular (i even saw some kids eating them on the train ><) and reminded me very much of the lamingtons in Australia. It is also the season for graduations so PhD hats are being made and it is a tradition in Germany for colleagues to include stuff associated with that person on the hat and surprise him/her once the defense is over. I also learnt a new greeting "servus" which is used as hello in Bavaria.

I have been walking pass this cake shop ever since I discovered Odeonsplatz many months ago but finally decided to try it >< Maelu is a specialty cake, macaron and chocolate shop in Munich. I decided to try one of their new flavours which they called Hanna, after the pastry chef who made it : ) It is a hazelnut special made for autumn!

Anyway, in line with the autumn/halloween theme, people have started selling pumpkins along the road as well which is really lovely to see...all those hues of orange : D It is a beautiful time in Munich. It is that daze-y/reflective glow that comes before winter.
