Schmalznudel the 'real' Bavarian donut #Munich

I chanced upon this schmalznudel while googling cafes to try in Munich, and realised that this simple treat was famous in old Bavaria and Austria. It is fried dough sprinkled with sugar and it's currently sold at Cafe Frischhut, near the Viktualienmarkt (farmers market) at Marienplatz.

I call it the 'real' Bavarian donut, cause what normally comes to mind are those sold by American companies like dunkin' donuts :P These warm fritters were the perfect thing to have on a cold and rainy day, and definitely a must try if you ever come to Munich!
