Someday- One Republic

It has been >2 years that my journey with radiobiology really started in Japan and I think many people reflect about their lives/passions and how it has evolved with time due to/inspite of COVID. Despite many challenges, I'm sincerely lucky that I could still 'travel' and learn directly from the experts who could teach me what I truly desired to learn. This upbeat song reminds you to keep going, and someday everything will fall into place. And as I like to say, people matter.

It is unlikely this particular girl I met around that time would be reading this blog, but if she does, I really hope she too managed to achieve her dream of opening up a hotel/cafe. I visited Kaffeekandl finally and was reminded of her, because this cafe and pension was set up by a girl and her father, which originally just started off as a 'dream'. They serve delicious and gorgeous looking cakes, good coffee, and the cozy atmosphere is bustling with laughter and conversations. I chose to sit outside despite it being winter, but you get the warmth from the sun, and it overlooks really nice scenery and they decorated the place really nicely with teapots (and dried flowers) everywhere : )

As for me, even in Munich, I'm lucky to have a taste of Japan despite not being able to travel back there anytime soon. Based on history, and even in terms of knowledge to learn in the field of radiobiology, Japan and Germany are very closely intertwined and I like being immersed in it;- not just the science, but the culture, food etc. I discovered a new sushi place which does delivery! It's called sushibar, and apparently has been featured in the press quite abit. The sushi is delivered in a really nice box so the sushi is kept intact and there are small compartments for the ginger and wasabi too :D I also really liked the very interesting varieties and combinations of flavours like mango with thai flavours, and more traditional Japanese ones with natto and ika!

Tanpopo Konditorei Cafe is a cute bakery I discovered as well...They have cakes with totoro! and their matcha desserts + matcha lattes are really good! Mostly, I like their melon pans, and am reminded of Hokkaido very much when I had them. You also hear many people speaking in Japanese when you enter the cafe, both staff and customers, so it momentarily feels as if you have stepped into a bakery in Japan ><

At the same time, I also enjoy the local Bavarian cuisine very much and found this place called Brot & Kolß which serves amazing Knödels in a variety of sauces like mushroom or tomato based ones, and you can add on vegetables or pastrami if you like. It is simple but very wholesome and especially nice to enjoy when the weather is chilly outside. The people working there are also really friendly so the entire experience is very pleasant and I would definitely recommend it : )
