I had walked pass St Peters church many times since I 1st arrived in Munich but as there was a lockdown at that time and work got busy later on I never got to climb the tower (though my best friend had asked me about it). Somehow with the arrival of the new year and on a quiet Sunday, I finally got the chance to...and the view of Munich from the 14th storey (300 steps later) is really breathtaking :D
St Peters church is the oldest church in Munich, and as you step into the church itself you can feel the charm of the old architecture and relics that they have collected. There is even a little musical/electrical wooden toy that plays for 5cents :)

If you are in the area, you can take a short walk down Weinstraße to Theatine Church which is also very beautiful. It is bright yellow from the outside and you might not realise it is a church amongst all the other historical buildings at Odeonplatz. But inside, is a magnificent pristine white church with intricate carvings. It is really calming to sit there on a Sunday morning whether you are there to pray or to just quietly admire the architecture.
As I was missing food from back home, I did try google-ing "Singaporean restaurants in Munich". While I am able to prepare quite a few dishes myself, I still lack a few ingredients for peranakan dishes, and was just curious if there was a big enough Singaporean community to set up a cafe/restaurant. The closest I got was Champor, a Malaysian restaurant, that has existed since 2004!! The food looked really delicious with a variety of dishes representing the different races, similar to back home. So I decided to make a trip down. The restaurant is located in a rather quiet neighborhood a few busstops away from Richard-Strauss-Straße U-bahn station. While on the slightly pricey side (for a student), the portion size is quite big for the takeaway menu (in my opinion) so I managed to eat the sambal fried rice over 2 meals. I would definitely recommend it if you want a taste of good Malaysian food cause the spice flavour was really good, for a dish as 'simple' looking as fried rice and it had many vegetables as well. It was nice to pair it with sugar cane juice I got from the Asian supermarket :D (just like I would back home).

Other fun things that happened as winter deepens was Ed Sheeran collaborating with Pokemon Go 8-) Crew Republic Beer is another made in Munich beer that can also be found in supermarkets, and started off as a dream by 2 friends;- It's always interesting to find out the stories behind these beer companies! The obergärig hell is a nice light beer that goes with many foods. I also discovered a Viennese bakery near Viktualienmarkt because I started taking the trams more instead of just the U-bahn >< (although I really wish I could have taken the ChristkindlTram- hopefully in 2022!) The cafe is called Konditorei Cafe Vienna since 1894 and they don't really have a website, but you should definitely pay a visit if you are in the area. It has a traditional bakery vibe with a whole assortment of cakes displayed by the window, and people just chilling with a cup of coffee;- possibly the closest you can get to visiting a cafe in Austria without travelling ;)
