Bamberg! šŸ°šŸŗšŸ”„(feat. the 9euro train tix)

Bamberg is the hometown of someone special I got the privilege to know lately and I was told I must make a trip down. It is an old town with buildings from the medieval period and is actually considered an UNESCO heritage town! It is also the home to these unique smokey beers, and there is a lane with beergarden after beergarden it was almost impossible to know what to get >< So I went with the 2 most famous ones;- Schlenkerla and Brauerei Spezial. The smokey taste is really strong, and I think it is an acquired taste, like that of lapsang souchong tea.

I was also rather lucky that on the day I was there, there was a wine festival going on, and I got to try a radler from Brauerei Gasthof Kraus. It's sincerely one of the best radlers I've had! The bratwurst roll is also a Franconian street food specialty, and something you should have while you are there. I randomly picked this store while walking about, but the man is so friendly I would recommend it for this reason alone :P (it's near the "old town" area). These sausages are known to be extra long compared to the tiny round bun, but he cut it in half for me so it would fit ><

It's nice to just walk aimlessly through the little lanes, and stop at a store that piques your interest. I discovered a little cafe- Karo18- selling lavender lattes! (amongst other nice drinks) and also a pretzel store - BreznBubn - freshly made like sandwiches with assorted fillings.

There are also many old bookstores with interesting books and beautiful postcards. I discovered this artist Hoffmann in the process because there were many postcards with his artwork on it. Cafe am Dom was a small pastry store I also discovered by chance, which was awarded one of the top 5 pastry store awards;-and the nussknacker was really good! The architecture alone is fascinating to admire, and it's definitely worth a trip to Bamberg if you ever get the chance.

If you are taking the regional bahn from Munich, Nuremberg is the likely stop over and if you have some time to spend in that city itself, it is one of my favourites with gingerbread (lebkuchen), special crafts (from historic times!) and even the new science museum. On this occasion I had about a 40min stop over, so it was just enough time to pick up some really good coffee and a cinnamon roll from a new cafe I discovered near the station called Kaffe Hoerna.
