Baden Baden ⛲👙🌲

Baden Baden is a town in the German Black Forest, and is famous for its historical baths. I've learnt alot about the history of roman baths (and how they have evolved over time to for example onsens today) thanks to this new anime called Thermea Romae ><

Given that we were in the black forest, my sister was insistent on trying the famed "black forest cake" or Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte though I admit the taste of the kirsch was abit strong for my liking. However I must recommend Café König. You are first greeted by a beatiful display of cakes from the front glass window as you are walking along the street, and inside you get to enjoy either tea and cake or fuller meals in a British tea house setting. I really enjoyed the chocolate mousse raspberry cake I ordered.

Baden Baden also has its own special Löwenbrau beergarden so that's a must visit too. I got to enjoy the Märzen while I was there, but they also have the usual types like helles, dunkel or weissebeir. I also learnt about the cool fireplaces they had to keep you warm in the evenings which was inspired by a fireside outdoors in Australia!

Of course you can't visit Baden Baden and not experience the bath culture;- the best part is that they have different types to suit your preferences. We visited Caracalla bath when we were there which is NOT textile free, and has different temperature types up to 38degrees and little wading areas where jets are turned on periodically for you to enjoy a massage of sorts outdoors!

Baden Baden is a good town for a short getaway with many tiny shops, cafes and many places to just relax. People are really friendly to chat with you even at this little bookstore we visited and learnt about fountain pens (e.g. Lamy) in Germany and that they are made compulsory for children to learn how to use in schools cause it also teaches them dexterity.
