16th of May was museum day! I had the privilege to attend an online tour of the Lenbachhaus ,an art museum which houses art of The Blue Rider, a historical group of expressionist artists in Munich. Expressionism is when the artist tries to portray emotions and responses as opposed to objective reality in the painting, and one of the famous paintings I got to see during the tour was the Blue Horse by Franz Marc.
As mentioned in my prev post, I revisited Odeonsplatz on another occasion so that this time I could takeaway coffee from the famous cafe Tambosi and enjoy the garden views just like Mozart did :P This time round though there was no live music...but the weather was really good!
Just a short walk from the Odeonsplatz station is another famous cafe, Cafe Luitpold which used to be the space for artists, sculptors and aristocrats. Stores surrounding that cafe are still stores that sell art or high end products, and the cafe itself is in the Micheline guide! The store is beautiful, filled with pastries, chocolates and the signature cake which apparently takes 3 chefs to make each time!
A walk through the historical lane of Odeonsplatz will lead you to Max Joseph Platz which is named after the King of Bavaria in 1806. Apparently in the summer, this area is transformed so that people can enjoy the "opera for everyone" .
